Hospitalized/Memories/That "OTHER" Holiday

So I have been staying with my grandmother for the last month (with a VERY short break to go back home) and we have been desperately trying to figure out what is going on with her. She is currently in Hardin Memorial Hospital- Elizabethtown, Kentucky  having a bunch of tests ran on her. Several doctors have now thrown the "cancer" word out there which is not really what anyone wants to hear. My grandmother has been through a lot in her life and  I hate to see her in so much pain and agony.
You never want to see a loved one go through pain, even though there are probably a few relatives (at least in my family) that I would like to smack with a frying pan to get them to shut up, lol BUT you don't want to see them in any real pain.

My granny means the world to me. Besides my husband, I don't care about anyone else like I do this lady.

As you can see from the photo above, my grandma doesn't feel very well. She is usually very happy and all smiles and is up and about "people watching." She loves to watch people and say "Those people are crazy." Haha. Gotta love that lady.

My grandmother has taught me all kinds of things. Her and my mother are responsible for my crafting, artistic ability and creativity. My grandmother taught me how to cook, how to sew and crotchet and she was always entertaining as I was growing up. I wouldn't be where I am now without her.

My favorite memories of my grandmother are what she did for our family (her six children and their youngin's) on Christmas Eve. My grandmother used to spend 3 days cooking a HUGE feast for all of us for Christmas Eve where we would all get together at her house for a family reunion. The food was amazing and the festivities were just memorable. It was her way of giving back to her children because lets face it, buying Christmas presents for all of us would have been just WAY too expensive.
This was a tradition in our family for as long as I can remember up until she sold her house and moved into her tiny trailer in Hodgenville, Kentucky. The reunions stopped and I was sad. When I got married I started my own Christmas tradition mixed with a bit of my husbands' family traditions. We began a Christmas Eve Dinner for my brothers, my mother, my grandmother and my husband and I and then on Christmas morning we would make breakfast and open presents.

Now that I am purchasing my first home. I plan on starting a family reunion every year to cherish the memories that my grandmother worked so hard to create. I will post more on this later when I begin planning the event.

I can always get her to smile even when she feels bad. Makes me feel so special. I love her so much.
****Update 7/23/2011****

My grandmother was diagnosed with Stage 4 Pancreatic cancer yesterday. She refused chemotherapy and was sent home to live out the rest of her days in the comfort of her own home. They are giving her a 2 to 3 month time frame. MAJOR SAD FACE HERE.
As you all know I have tons of projects going on and I am now putting them all on hold to take care of my grandmother for the remainder of her days. My halloween bash is being cancelled as I won't have the time to finish this years projects. I will instead, push the theme off onto next years bash.

I hope to keep posting here on my blog but it may get a bit sad here and there so please stick around. I promise to throw in some good stuff here and there when I have the time to.

Happy Haunting everyone!

Set Backs and Delays

It has been really crazy around here the past 3 weeks. I've been out of town taking care of my very ill Grandmother for 2 of those 3 weeks, so no progress on any props. While this was going on, my husband informs me we have to either move or buy the house we are currently renting...so now we are buying our first home. Yay! But it is so crazy around here. Trying to get props finished for friends, clients and myself plus preparing to go to Wolf Creek Haunted Forest in Shepherdsville, Kentucky to detail work once their build is near completion. I am dog tired. I'm only home for a week for a break and to take care of all the necessary paperwork for the house as well as getting a bunch of repairs completed for the house. Then I will be headed back up to Hodgenville, Kentucky to stay with my Grandmother. My grandmother is doing very poorly. She is 77 years old, about to turn 78 in August and her health is deteriorating fast on me. I am very distraught over this as to be expected. My grandmother raised my two older brothers and myself and she is more like a mom than a grandmother so seeing her in so much pain is unbearable but I have to be there for her. So I am writing this post and it may be the only one for a few weeks being as my work load has just tripled. I am extremely busy and I am not sure at this time whether or not I will have time for my Halloween Bash this year. We may have to post pone it until next year but the plus side to that is that I can make it even bigger and badder.

So here is a hello and a see ya soon as I can for now. Don't forget me and my little blog. :)

Happy Haunting Everyone and Please stay safe.
