Happy Halloween!

Today is the day that we have all been working so hard for all year long. For 2 hours in my small little town of Madisonville, Kentucky the kids will be dragging through our neighborhood with their little hands reaching out for free candy. This year we made little goody bags to hand out to the TOTs. I am looking forward to handing out candy this year as everyone in my house will be gone and I will have 2 hours to myself!

Unfortunately, that time will be spent doing laundry, washing dishes and cleaning up and packing up my craft room. But I will be squeezing in some horror movies in with all of that.

I just want to say Happy Halloween to all of you out there in webland. Please be safe and eat LOTS of candy!

Until next year….

5 day until PARTY time

Our Halloween Bash is quickly approaching and the crazy hustle and bustle of getting everything ready has commenced. Lots to do for the big day.

The strange thing about parties and Halloween is that the closer it approaches for the current one, the more I think of the next years party, lol. I'm already planning ideas and budgeting for next years big event which will be what I had wanted to do for this year. I am hoping that all will go as planned, but who knows. I also have a house to remodel so money may be EXTREMELY tight considering there are more mouths to feed here now. :D Our best friend Chris moved his girlfriend and her 2 daughters in with us and we couldn't be happier. It is so nice to have everyone here, it feels like a family.
The girls are just so happy to help with all the Halloween projects. They love how creative that I am and are eager to get more involved in things that I do. Once they are older, they will have a blast being little actors for our Halloween display. The youngest (4) loves to put on the Halloween masks and run around scaring everyone. While the oldest (6) is still a little frightened of her own shadow....but I will teach her to not be afraid of what goes bump in the night but instead to bump back with a vengeance.

Tomorrow we will be carving pumpkins since the oldest is going on a field trip to a local pumpkin patch and Chris will be going with her to bring home pumpkins.

Hopefully we will be able to post some photos of our carved pumpkins soon.

Already planning for Thanksgiving and Christmas too while all of this is going on. When you live on a budget everything has to be started early. Ya feel me?

Stay scary and Happy Halloween everyone!

Lots of Hocus Pocus

Things have been really busy here in the Pharmer household. I have been working on the finishing touches of my Halloween costume and finally have it finished! I made several batches of cookie dough to freeze in preparation for the Halloween party. Cookies will be just one of the items on them menu for the 2011 Halloween Bash. We are doing a nacho bar this year, some cupcakes and several other things. Budge this year is limited but that is okay. . The winners of the costume contest categories (best costume, most creative, best duo/couple and scariest costume) will receive costumes custom made gift baskets as their prizes...which is becoming a tradition in our house. I need to get a few more things at the store Sunday and then everything will be ready for the party. We are having several people bring their children to the party this year and so we are also creating goody grab bags for them as well.
This year definitely won't be exactly what I wanted it to be but that is okay. Things happen in life that take priority over other things. 2012 will definitely be a BIG shebang. After all, isn't the world supposed to end next year? (Ha!)

My nieces, Dani and Vanna have moved in with us along with their mother, Michelle and they have settled in nicely. It is so nice to have kids running around here. Tomorrow we will be going to Dani's school's fall festival and that should be really fun. Next week we will be carving pumpkins to make our Jack O' Lanterns.

Tonight we are all watching ABC's 13 days of Halloween...and the specials were Goonies and Hocus Pocus. Gotta LOVE the HALLOWEEN specials.

Random posting tonight.

Happy Halloween folks!

14 days

As the title of this post suggests, it is 14 days until my Halloween Party and that means PANDEMONIUM has set in here at home. Trying to hustle and get everything ready and set up as well as finishing my husband and I's costumes. Luckily I am just about done with his. Bad thing about mine is I am so picky about the details....errrg. Anywho, my costume is a secret this year only a few people know what I am going to be (and that is only because they annoyed the crap out of me until I finally yelled "FINE!!! I'll tell you just shut up!!" LOL) My husband is going to be Pyramid Head from Silent Hill after we decided to change the theme of our party this year (last minute) to something simpler as just a cemetery with a few evil surprises brewing in amongst the sacred land. Next years theme is already decided as it will be the original theme for this year (Twisted Fairy Tales). My husband and I are planning on doing a big walk through path next year so we will see how it goes. The loss of my grandmother really did it in for me this year and just took the wind out of me for prop building. I hope to get my oomph back and hit 2012 Halloween with a vengeance. Time to start getting all the little details in order for this year....Happy Hauntings everyone...I am just exhausted and gonna hit the pillow that is callin my name.

Silent Hill’s Pyramid Head- - Headpiece complete

So here it is folks, its done…well to the standards of my husband who is going to be wearing it for Halloween this year. Next on the Silent Hill to-do is Pyramid Head’s Huge ass Sword and his skin suit/skirt/kilt thing.

Finally a Silent Hill’s Pyramid Head Headpiece update…LONG overdue.

I have been working hard these past days on trying to just get everything I have done, and also to remember to take photos. So I was asked a long time ago to make a Pyramid Head helmet thing and sword, I have built the headpiece base and have started detailing it. It is not done yet but I figured I would post some updates for this. I still need to add some more details, and put the rusting technique on it in various places. I shall then begin building Pyramid Head’s huge ass sword. My husband has said he wants to be Pyramid Head for Halloween now because of how “bad ass” the headpiece is turning out…hmm…seems I shall be sewing a skin costume soon.

More from the TaysMache Soon. Smile

100_5495What you see here is the inside of the helmet/headpiece which is a hard hat that was spray painted black and then the panels were attached to it. The inside is not so pretty but when its all done it wont matter. I wanted to make sure it was structurally sound.

100_5496This is the bottom so far which will get sanded and smoothed and painted black and then rusted.

Anyways, there is it is so far. I have the headpiece in my work room right now getting ready to add more details and get it ready for some major sealing and painting. Smile More Updates soon..

Keep posted to this post, I will be adding more photos to it… I won’t have any new ones until this stage above dries. Then I will post some more. Cheers!

T.G.I.F

Today I got to spend the entire day devoted to prop building. I added some pieces to my husbands costume (Pyramid head) and will be showing some photo updates on that soon. I managed to get some foam cut for faux wood boards to board up the windows of my house for Halloween. That was fun and easy.  Creating Wood Boards to board up my windowsFoam Faux Wood Boards
Please excuse the date on these photos, my lame digital camera lies to reset the date every time I turn it off. Simple execution on this…just cut some foam insulation sheathing into boards…as you can see these aren’t perfectly straight but I like the imperfection of these. I scored them with my box cutter with tiny lines up and down the board lengthwise and then I coated these boards with black exterior latex paint. The next step, which I have not photographed yet is to paint them with brown paints, both light and dark and then add the black knots in the wood. You can search the web for how to’s just search your favorite search engine using the keywords “faux wood painting techniques” and find something you like.
Next on my list of props and such was my static giant spider. I had originally wanted to do a fcg spider but that isn’t happening this year due to finances so I am building my Mr. Spider.

100_5466100_5467100_5468100_5469Mr. Spider. Added Eyeballs...and gave his topside a coat of black paint for base.EyeballsMr. SpiderMr. Spider
Mr. Spider is made from a scrap wood,1/2” pvc, 45 degree and 90 degree pvc connectors, paper mache body, ping pong balls for eyes, some duct tape, and covered in great stuff foam (every haunter should have these supplies), He is base coated with the exterior black latex paint, which I believe I coat every prop I have with before detailing with paint.

Labor Day Fun

So this weekend was a blast. Had a friend of mine that I haven’t seen in 3 years come visit with her 2 daughters and stay. We then had a huge bbq last night with friends and some people from my husbands work. It was fun. We had beer chicken, hot dogs, burgers, grilled corn on the cob, my special loaded baked potato salad, baked beans, chips and dip and of course BEER and daiquiris! Woo! We went to the Dollar Tree store and purchased all kinds of glow in the dark glow sticks for all of the children that were here to wear and run around and play with. They really enjoyed my tombstones that I have made and already set up in the yard in preparation for my Halloween display. I don’t have a garage to store them in right now and my house was jammed packed with people this weekend sooooo out in the yard they went. The tombstones made it more fun for the kids being that they kept playing tag and hide and go seek around them. This inspired me though for future parties. I have decided that I want to hold a fall festival/carnival type Halloween party in the next couple of years and extend it to try and create a block party on my dead end street. How fun would that be? My husband and I have even talked about purchasing a cotton candy machine and such to add to the mix. I’m so excited. Smile  I really hope everyone out there had a great weekend and I know you are just dying to go back to work tomorrow right? LOL. I shall be cleaning up my house and getting back to prop building…Halloween is rapidly approaching and the craziness has begun!. Happy Hauntings everyone….

Let's Get it Started

So tonight I started digging out all of my Halloween supplies for both my bash and my yard display. I am taking inventory of everything that I have, plus making a list of everything I need. I have 10 tombstones that I will be now using in my yard display and I am creating a list for of supplies for my new fence and entrance gate to my cemetery. Tomorrow will be eventful. The husband is off of work and has agreed to help me sort through everything and get a more refined game plan of what we are going to do this Halloween. My original plan has to be altered due to lack of funding and lack of time now. So I will most definitely be posting some more pics soon. Stay tuned and Happy haunting all you freaks out there.

Louisville Zombie Attack Walk

Louisville Zombie Attack Walk

To Vlog…or Not to Vlog.

I am sad to say that my annual Halloween Bash has been cancelled for this year. BUT we will be back next year with a vengeance. With just purchasing our first home and having repairs to it and then all of the work for my haunt prop business, I just don’t have time to do anything for myself.

Next year will be the same theme I have been planning for this year and since I will have a whole extra year to plan, it will most definitely be bigger and awesome! We will keep building and planning through this haunt season and up until next for our bash. We are thinking of creating a whole walkthrough haunt for next year. So keep your eyes glued to my blog for updates. We have also been talking about starting a vlog….but I dunno if I want to to be on camera, haha. We shall see. What are your opinions? To Vlog or Not to Vlog….that is the question. Happy Hauntings guys!

I have been working hard the past two weeks on projects for a haunt located in Shepherdsville, Kentucky called “Wolf Creek Haunted Forest.” These are some of the tombstones I am creating for them.I will be leaving on Aug. 29th to go on what I am calling a “workation” being as I’ll be gone for two weeks and will be on location at this haunt doing detail work. I am going to try and get some more photos up of some of the things I have been making. I have made some led tea light candles, tombstones, Silent Hill’s Pyramid Head headpiece and my rendition of the movie Saw’s Reverse Bear Trap as seen in previous posts.
I hope you enjoy these photos and if you have any questions as to how they were made, please feel free to ask. Oh, and if you would like your very own tombstone, made by yours truly, drop me a line at taysmache@hotmail.com.
